Title: Chess
Post by: Julie Magson on September 04, 2016, 07:07:14 PM
I don't know if anybody likes to play chess but I have found that playing it online is helping to pass some time away and does help to keep the brain in the right place. I use Chess.com

I love the game of Chess Julie,  good to see a lady enjoying the game too.  I tried many times during our marriage to get my wife interested, as she enjoyed playing quite a few games on her iPad and laptop etc,  but mainly word puzzle and anagram type games,  sadly she didn't want to know Chess.

Not used that site for quite some time,  but AYS it's certainly something to think about,  I haven't played for a little while.

It's good to find something to occupy our minds.  I enjoy my colouring and cross stitching, but do play mindless games on my phone.
Chess is something I learned.

I have played chess but I cannot remember ever winning a single game in my life. Strategy definitely isn't my forte. I just don't seem to be able to think ahead beyond the move I am making.

I'm not that brilliant myself Hubby,  I never played speed chess IOW games where moves are timed,   I annoyed my sons when we used to play the odd game years ago because I take so long over moves...lol

I probably need to get back into playing more, as I seem to have lost interest in many things since the loss of my wife.
Often I awaken in the morning, and wonder for a few seconds whether it was all a nightmare, and then reality hit's home, and I have to face another day alone,  knowing I shall never see her again..........it's so hard.

It is so hard Brian- so hard.
Well if anyone wants a game I'm on Chess.com and my name is choukrane. I'm not very good at planning far ahead of that one move either Hubby which is why my son always beats me- and I tend to make silly mistakes especially at the moment so I am losing more than I win. But as Brian  says it does keep the brain working and occupied.

Mahjong online for me. I spend hours at it and wonder if there's anything more pointless. I kid myself that it's a sort of memory training.

Yes..that was one my wife played too.  I doubt there are few ladies who don't enjoy that game.
