It's taken me nearly 15 years
« on: July 01, 2019, 01:03:52 PM »
Hi,

I lost my mum to secondary cancer at the end of October 2004. Almost exactly a year later, my grandfather (mum's father) passed away and 6 months later my grandma (my dad's mum) passed away.

Hi Matt.
You are not the first who has taken so long to admit too themselves the devastating effect grief has on us, it is something we try to supress and get back too our lives, but then realise sometimes years later, it has created a void which try as we might we dont know how to fill. I also lost my mum to cancer in 2004 but it was the loss of my husband 7 years later which forced me to see that void left by by mum as well. Back then there wasnt anywhere like this to go too but writing here and finding the support of others in the same situation but at different points on this horrid journey that is grief did help a lot though so although we are not experts or counsellors i hope you can find that same support here.
