Title: They won't remember :(
Post by: dizzylizzy on November 22, 2016, 08:02:45 PM
Yesterday I found a picture of my granny (my dad's mum) holding me when I was a baby. She died just before I was 1 so I can't remember her. It nearly drove me off my head with sadness as my own mum died on the very day my daughter, whom I named after her turned 6 months old. My little son is 3 and at the moment still talks about his granny. In fact he says granny is a star and wakes me up in the night to show me her sparking. It's unbearable to think that they won't get to know her, she just loved them both so, so much and I feel completely heart broken x

Could you start to make a memory box with them?

I really like the memory box idea.
As they grow, keep talking to them about their granny. Tell them stories, show them pics and teach them the things she would have taught them.  We're doing that with my nephew and will do with my niece, my dad's memory will live on that way

I have a memory box with Margarets things in. I'm hoping to go through it with little Ollie when he s older. It is upsetting that he won't remember his 'nanny'.

Memory box is a great idea.My eldest grandson remembers his grandad very well and has passed that onto the younger ones, they know who he is from photos round my house and from talking about him.

I love the memory box idea. I have been feeling so sad at the thought of my twoxboys, aged 2 & 1, growing up without any memories of their grandma. They brought her such joy and I'm so thankful that she got to meet them and bond with them.
