Welcome here Patrick,,,yes we all know about the sleepless nights and how long it takes for dawn to break some nights.

Please make a post in the support forum telling us again for those who are new here about your bereavement and maybe we can help by chatting about your loss and give you some much needed support by the sound of it.
Take care and please keep posting however small or large you can manage, we need them.

Welcome Patrick, so sorry for your loss
For me when Paul went for the first year I slept like a log, soon as my head hit the pillow I was gone.
Then i had nearly 2 years of getting to sleep and failing,  since January I have taken up walking, this last fortnight going to a gym and today jogged round my local park with my dog Pip for company. Think with all this exercise it is making me tired and helping me to drift off without counting sheep.
I get up, go to work and survive another day .

Hello June M,
I recently went back to work for the first time since my wife died, I do quite a physical job and l was hoping that I would be so tired l would drop off immediately. But I'm still
lying around waiting, I'm happy these days if I get 3 or 4 hours.

Have you given our live chatroom a try yet Patrick? I know some nights it's gone on into the early hours of the morning, plus its a bit of company of course which is very welcome I'm sure.

Have you tried any breathing techniques ? not saying they will work for everyone but you dont know till you try it.
Google 4, 7,8 breathing, I am doing it and think it is helping a bit,

I know we are all different and my answer to the sleep problem was to just sleep when I could. For a while I was completely 'topsy turvy' sleeping during the day and awake until 3 and 4 in the morning. I've slowly fallen back into a more normal pattern and I'm sure that the lighter mornings have helped a lot.
I'll never get over losing her and I used to think that eventually
I would learn to live with it - that's not happened yet.
