Does anyone why this emoticon   :azn:  is called 'azn'? What does it represent?

I had no idea but a quick internet search tells me it's shorthand for 'Asian'.

My searches also came up similar to Hubby's,  I've likely selected it in the past because it looks similar to a normal smiley.

The animated one's on here is more less all I use.....but no Julie I didn't have a clue on that one either...lol

Yes it just seems to fit the mood of a post I'm writing at the time - strange name for it though.

I think its to do with the origin rather than the specific meaning.could be Chinese or Japanese,  basically whoever created the emoticon set used an Asian font to code it their letters are different to ours so their keyboards reflect that.
